What we collect

A request for a sound system, an event or equipment

The request form asks for your name and email address. Depending on your choice we also ask for your phone number, company name, the date and venue, the number of guests, your budget, the artists or genres you have in mind and any further notes. We use this to assess your request, make a proposal and get in touch.

Signing up as a DJ or live act

The signup form asks for your name, email address, phone number, city, genre, a link to your work, your socials, an indicative fee and, for a live act, the number of people on stage. We use this to assess whether we can book you and to get in touch.

Contact by email or phone

If you email or call us, we keep what you send us for as long as we need it to handle your question.

Website statistics

We measure how many people visit the website, which pages they look at and whether they send a request. We do this with Google Analytics, configured in a privacy-friendly way. We use those figures to improve the website, not to follow you as a person.

Why we are allowed to

For requests and signups we process data because it is needed to prepare or carry out an agreement. For our administration we do so because the law requires it. For website statistics we rely on a legitimate interest.

How long we keep data

Requests that do not lead to work are kept for two years. Data that belongs to our administration is kept for seven years, because Dutch tax law requires it. Artist signups are kept for as long as you are on our roster; if we do not book you, we remove your signup after a year. Website statistics are kept for fourteen months.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your data and we do not share it with others for advertising. We do work with parties that process data on our behalf: Airtable, where we keep requests and artists and which is located outside the European Union; Google, for website statistics and search results; our hosting provider, where the website and the form entries live; and the party that sends our email. We have agreements with these parties about how they handle your data.

Cookies

This website does not place advertising cookies and does not follow you across other websites. For statistics we use Google Analytics with privacy-friendly settings.

Your rights

You can ask us which data we hold about you, have it corrected or have it removed. You can object to its use and you can ask us to transfer it. Send an email to info@thesoundsociety.nl and you will hear from us within a month.

Security

The website runs over a secure connection. Access to the systems holding your data is limited to the people who need it.

Complaint

If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Changes

If the way we handle data changes, we update this statement.
